City Council meeting set for Monday Jan. 9, 2012

The Morganton City Council will hold the Council's regular meeting Monday Jan. 9, 2012, at 6:00 pm in the Council Chambers in City Hall.

Items on the agenda include:

• Resolution Honoring Retiring City Employee Jimmy C. White
• Presentation of Service Pin to Jimmy Phillips, Cemetery & Grounds Supervisor, Public Works, 35 years
• Public Hearing for Consideration of a Zoning Ordinance Amendment to Section 9-4006SR8 to Reduce the Minimum Lot Size of Home Occupation Uses within Residential Transition (RT) Districts from 30,000 Square Feet to 20,000 Square Feet
• Public Hearing to Consider Rezoning Approximately 2.63 Acre of property Located at 110 Union Square Drive from General Business Conditional Use (GB-CU) to Central Business (CB-CU) for the Purpose of Constructing a 45-Unit Senior Living Apartment Complex Submitted by Beacon Management Corporation
• Consideration of Purchase and Financing of 40 Yard Front Loader Refuse Collection Truck
• Consideration of Award of Bid to Replace Rotary Screw Air Compressors at the Waste Treatment Plant and to Amend the Budget for the Purchase
• Consideration to Accept Award from Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG) and Approval of Budget Amendment
• Consideration of Contracting with Manning, Fulton & Skinner for Lobbying Services During 2012 for the Next Session of the NC General Assembly
